Pupin Hall Upgrades

Construction Update for the weeks of December 15, 2015 thru January 31, 2016

Although contractors carefully stage construction activities to minimize disruption to the surrounding community, the nature of construction work is such that some disruptions will occur. The community should expect the following in the coming weeks:

What is Happening

  • MEP Vertical Infrastructure Upgrade
    • Work inside temporary construction barrier all floors
    • Structural steel installation of platforms per floor inside East and West Shafts—night shifts only M-F
    • 1000 and 1100 levels corridor ceiling piping relocation work; night shifts only Sunday night thru Thursday night
    • Utility service work 100 level; 100 level bathroom renovation on going
    • Anticipated Completion— Summer 2016

  • 5th and 6th Feeder Upgrade (Pupin and CEPSR)
    • Utility service work 100 level Pupin
    • Anticipated Completion— Summer 2016

  • Exterior Copper Cornice Replacement—COMPLETED FALL 2015
  • Physics New Theoretical Center—COMPLETED FALL 2015

What to Expect

The community should expect the following in the coming weeks:

  • Delivery of material
  • Some noise due to construction-related activities
  • Elevator #36 to be utilized for construction related work
