About these Projects:
In efforts to make necessary upgrades to Pupin Hall, while preserving its historic significance on the campus, a series of concurrent projects will commence in the spring of 2014 and continue until the fall of 2016. These projects include the New Theory Center, Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) core vertical upgrades, the replacement of the majority of copper repousse and embossed copper fascia panels around entire perimeter of the building, and a Pupin/CEPSR 5th and 6th Feeder Project. Below is more information on each project.
New Theory Center – 8th and 9th Floor
The Theory Center involves the renovation of the eastern portion of the 8th and 9th floors to accommodate the emergent needs of the Theoretical Physics Department. It will provide a modernized space for interaction and collaboration amongst theorists. This project was completed in the fall of 2015.

Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) Vertical Infrastructure Upgrade
The building is in need of upgraded vertical distribution of mechanical and electrical risers. Existing mechanical and electrical systems will remain in place and horizontal connections will be incorporated into future renovations. Work started in the summer of 2014 and is anticipated to be completed in the summer of 2016.

Exterior Copper Cornice
The copper cornice is original to the building and can be seen throughout the campus. Work includes the exterior substructure framework of the existing copper gutter system and the replacement of the majority of copper repousse and embossed copper fascia panels around entire perimeter of the building. This project was completed in the fall of 2015.

Pupin/CEPSR 5th and 6th Feeder Project
This project involves upgrading the switchgear in the 100 and 200 levels of the CEPSR building. The project will increase the current electrical capacity of the CEPSR switchgear bus and replace and enhance the existing electrical service that feeds Pupin Hall, Dodge Gym and Havemeyer Extension. Work started in the summer of 2014 and is anticipated to be completed in the summer of 2016.
