What is Subletting?
Who can Sublet?

Subletting (or subleasing) a unit means that the primary renter leases their unit to a secondary renter during the time they are not inhabiting the space.

Example of Subletting - Person A is traveling out of the state for the summer, so they rent their space to Person B who moves in and pays the rent for that time.

The subletting or subleasing of Columbia UAH units is handled through OCHA.  Subletting is allowed for anyone residing in Columbia UAH housing who meets the specified criteria.

See Subletting - Essentials.

To see available units, use the Subletting Registry - a free service that lists Columbia units, both furnished and unfurnished, for sublet. The unit listings are mostly located in the immediate vicinity of Columbia University.

Only affiliated tenants are allowed to list available housing with the Subletting Registry. No finder's fee or fees of any kind may be charged to anyone viewing the listings or finding housing through the listings. Listers who are found to be charging fees will have their listings immediately canceled and will not be allowed to sublet their apartment or room.

Anyone is allowed to search the Subletting Registry database.
